Obituary for Kevin D. Schroeder
Kevin D. Schroeder, 51, of La Crosse passed away Thursday July 22, 2010 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center. He was born in La Crosse on June 20, 1959 to Mathias and Florance (Green) Schroeder. Kevin graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, being honorable discharged in 1978.
Kevin was involved in many sports growing up, including track and cross country. He loved fishing, spending time with friends, and enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He also enjoyed spending time on the farm with his grandparents and aunt Nellie.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Florance McCarty;; two sons, Kurt (Nicole) Schroeder and Kyle Schroeder both of Wisconsin Rapids; a grandson, Gage; two sisters, Cheryl (Ed) Batsel of Indiana and Debra Heier of North Dakota; half brother, Ron McCarty of Indiana; step sister, Lisa Desmond; step brother, Bobby Taylar; three aunts, Nellie Burkum, Dorothy Gerke of Bangor and Imogene (Gordan) Stillwater of Viroqua; uncle, Clifford Schroeder of St. Paul, MN; special friends, Becky, Esther Schroeder, his friends at Coulee Council on Addiction, his high school coach, Phil Esten, and Steve Eide.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mathias Schroeder; maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Mildred Green; paternal grandparents, Joseph (Liz) Schroeder, step mother, Mary Lou Schroeder; step father, Bobbie McCarty; half sister, Leann McCarty Potosky; two uncles, Herold Schroeder and Lenard Gerke; aunt, Gertrude Schroeder; brother in law, Gary Heier; and a cousin, Shelba Paulus.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Coulee Council on Addictions, 921 West Avenue South, La Crosse.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
