Obituary for Doreen C. Wilchinski
Doreen C. Wilchinski, 85, of La Crosse passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born in Wabasha on September 24, 1924 to Louis and Catherine (Schuth) Carrels. On March 4, 1946 she married Michael Wilchinski. They celebrated sixty one years together before he preceded her in death in 2007.
Doreen worked for the Garment Company and was a Avon Lady for many years. Doreen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Playing cards was one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed many years traveling with her husband in their motor home and meeting other campers. Doreen was such a loving person who loved her family and friends. She will be missed so much that it can't be expressed in words.
Doreen is survived by two daughters, Kay and Carol; four sons, Michael, Dave, Roger and Bob; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Marge; and her brother, Wayne.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Louis, Phillip, Richard and Ronald; and a sister, Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1102 Caledonia Street, La Crosse. The Reverend Roger Scheckel will officiate and burial will take place in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street, La Crosse on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Franciscan Skemp Hospice Program, 212 South 11th Street, La Crosse
