Obituary for Llewellyn C. Fossum

Llewellyn Carl Fossum, age 77, of La Crosse and formerly of Viroqua Wisconsin and Rushford Minnesota died Friday June 25  at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.
 Llewellyn, known as Lew or Lewie, was born September 7, 1932 to Carl and Lillian Fossum of Bratsberg Minnesota.  He married Dian Marie Malmin on September 3, 1955.
 Lew graduated from Rushford High School and the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture.  He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He worked for Accelerated Genetics (Tri-State Breeders) in Westby for 30 years. 
 Lew was an active volunteer at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church and enjoyed his time with Men at Work and his church family.  He loved fishing, playing cribbage with friends, using his laptop computer and playing card games with his grandchildren and family. 
 Lew was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all.  He is survived by his wife, Dian; son Kim Fossum and wife Kay of Viroqua Wisconsin; daughter Kristi Pappas and husband David of Millersville, Maryland; daughter Karrie Schroeder and husband Scott of La Crosse; son Timothy Fossum of Owatonna, Minnesota; son-in-law Arthur Weidner of Chicago Illinois; ten grandchildren: Ashley and Alex Schroeder, Anthony, Joseph, and Michael Pappas; David and Tom Weidner;  Kamille Tilson , Kelli Schultz and Stacey Chen; and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by daughter Karla Weidner.
 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2135 Weston Street, La Crosse.  The Reverend Bruce Iverson will officiate and burial will take place in East Grace Cemetery, Peterson, Minnesota.
Family and friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 1425 Jackson Street, La Crosse on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in La Crosse, Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Ferryville, Wisconsin or Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, Minnesota.
