George W. Stanienda, 60, of Onalaska went to his happy hunting grounds with his rye whiskey on Monday, June 14, 2010.  He was born in Germany on December 18, 1949 to Hans and Alice Stanienda.  George served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  On May 15, 1982 he married Janice Glass in La Crosse.  George was employed as an over the road semi-driver for over thirty years, putting on a million miles and more.
George was a member of American Legion Post 336.  He loved to hunt and fish and recently developed a interest in electric trains.
George is survived by his wife, Janice; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Pomeroy of Milwaukee and Ann (Bob) Phillips of Indiana; a brother-in-law George Glass; a cousin, CC (David) Mandle of Connecticut; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul, his father and mother-in-law, George and Betty Glass, and his parents.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main Street, Onalaska from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the George Stanienda memorial fund.
