


Obituary for William L. Fancher
William L. Fancher, 77, of Holmen passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born in La Crosse on October 15, 1932 to Lloyd and Eva (Nichols) Fancher. He was proud to have served his country in the Armed Forces.
On November 15, 1958 William married Joan Drummond in La Crosse.
Before his retirement, he worked for Western Printing, Golden Book Publishing in Racine, Wisconsin for over thirty years. After his retirement he spent 6 years volunteer driving for RSVP. William “Bill” was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church in LaCrosse. He was also a member of the Onalaska American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose. Bill had a life long passion for fishing, and had many “fish stories” to tell.
William is survived by a daughter, Cathi (Paul) Stenger of Onalaska; a sister, Ruth (Robert) Wallace of La Crosse; 2 nieces, Sue (Rod) Ferguson and Mary Burleson: a great niece Sarah Courteau; a great nephew, Scott Ferguson; a great, great nephew, Nathan Courteau: a brother in law James (Margo) Drummond: and his close friend and companion, Betty Nelson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a great niece, Laura Ferguson; and Barry Burleson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 1209 Main Street, La Crosse. The Reverend Timothy Ashley will officiate and burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
