


Obituary for Lois Mainz
Lois Annette Mainz, 54, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at her residence in La Crosse, WI. She was born in La Crosse on July 24, 1955 to John and La Vonne (Woodhouse) Mainz. She attended First Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Luther High School in Onalaska in 1973. She played baritone horn in the Luther High School band and sang in the choir. She also played the piano. Lois sang in many area churches with the Jesus Cares Bible Study group. She loved to bake cookies and always had cookies out for the residents of Forest Park Apartments where she resided. They called her "The Cookie Lady". Lois also did volunteer work at Franciscan Skemp. She always had a ready smile for anyone that she met.
Lois is survived by her mother, a sister, Karen of Onalaska, three brothers, Richard of Onalaska, Robert (Dawn) of Maple Grove, MN and Randy of Onalaska, a niece, Danielle Mainz and two nephews, John and Spencer Mainz.
Lois was preceded in death by her father in 1991.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West Avenue South La Crosse. The Revernd Roger Sachs will officiate and burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call the church on Friday from noon until time of services. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff of the La Crosse County Human Services for the compasssion and care they gave Lois.
