Viola Lucille LaCourse, 92, of Onalaska passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at her home.  She was born in Wahpeton, ND on October 12, 1917 to George and Leah (Granger) Quesnell, and was raised in Terrebonne, MN.  On May 22, 1940, she married Leo LaCourse at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Terrebonne.  Leo preceded her in death on April 11, 1995.

For the first sixteen years of their marriage, Leo and Vi lived in Red Lake Falls, MN, where Leo farmed and Vi was a homemaker, lovingly raising their five children.  In 1956, the family moved to Sparta, WI, where Leo and Vi ran a neighborhood grocery store at 402 North Chester Street.  Vi also worked at the Morrow Home and Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta until her retirement.  Leo and Vi moved to Onalaska in 1987.

Vi is survived by three daughters, Delore (Bob) Parks, Lois (Jim) Hillbo, and June Sylvester; two sons, Robert LaCourse and John (Sherri) LaCourse; eleven grandchildren, Todd (Cindy) Parks, Kevin (Siksha) Parks, Keith (Krista Faye) Parks, Lynn Parks, Chris (Larry) Mines, Carey Hillbo, Jeff Hillbo, Tina Sylvester, Tammy (Mark Conning) Sylvester, Michael (Joanna) LaCourse, and Jason LaCourse; seven great grandchildren, Kaylee Conning, Cidney Hillbo, Zachary, Ferran, Jennifer, Steven, and Dillon Parks, many nieces and nephews, a special person, Butch Sylvester, and her precious cat Samantha.

In addition to her husband, Vi was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lucille, her parents, two sisters, Cleone Fuchek and Loretta Craft, and two brothers, Lloyd and George Jr.

In keeping with Vi’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  She will be cremated and her ashes interred in Red Lake Falls, MN, at a later date.  The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.dicksinsonfuneral-homes.com.

Vi will always be remembered for her love of her family.  She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
