Obituary for Rose Ella Hall

sign guestbook

Rose Ella Hall, 86, of Onalaska passed peacefully away in her sleep on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.  She was born on January 12, 1924 in Southern Illinois to Amy Augusta (Wilder) and John Leslie Crozier.
She spent her early years in Louisiana and Arkansas.  The Crozier family moved to Readstown, WI in 1935 where she met and married the love of her life, R. Clifford Hall.  They moved to Racine as newlyweds in 1942.
The Halls had two children, Kent Leroy and Kristine Lesilie.  Mrs. Hall was a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for many years.  After retirement, she was a volunteer at St. Luke's.  When her husband's deteriorating health necessitated her remaining at home, she used her knitting skills to make baby hats for the nursery at St. Luke's.  It is estimated she made and donated well over 1,200 baby hats.
Mrs. Hall was also very active at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Racine.  She served on many committees and especially enjoyed the Lucy Rowe missionary society and their annual smorgasbords.  She was an avid quilter and a member of two quilting groups.
Mrs. Hall moved to Onalaska to live near her daughter in April of 2005.  She attended Onalaska United Methodist Church for several years.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristine (Daniel J.) Ames; five grandchildren, Melissa (Joseph) Burger, Michael (Leslie Schnaible) Ames, Matthew (Renee) Ames, Ryan Hall, and Sarah Hall Wronkowski; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Hall; and her dearest friend and sister-in-law, Audrey Crozier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son; and a brother, John Leslie Crozier Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Onalaska United Methodist Church, 212 4th Avenue North.  The Reverend Jenny Arneson will officiate and burial of the cremains will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Racine at a later date.  You may greet the family on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family suggests memorials to Evangelical United Methodist Church, 212 11th Street, Racine WI; Onalaska United Methodist Church; or Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation, 1900 South Avenue, La Crosse.
The Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would wish to thank the staffs of Eagle Crest Memory Care and Bethany St. Joseph Care Center for their exceptional compassion and care of Rose Ella over the past two years.
