


Obituary for Mahlon Wayne Arentz
Mahlon W. Arentz, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Onalaska Care Center. He was born in Middle Ridge, WI on March 1, 1929 to Arthur and Rebecca (Roberts) Arentz. Mahlon served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 417. He worked at Trane Company for over 43 years as a machinist. Mahlon enjoyed muskie fishing with his family and friends, football, golfing, and watching Price is Right.
He is survived by three sons, Tom, Mike (Tammy) and Chuck (Debbie) Arentz, three daughters, Becky Arentz, Shirley Arentz (Paul) and Sharon (Pete) Steinmetz and their families all of La Crosse, one step-daughter, Pat "Mapatti" Smith and her family of Desoto. Also in his life where the children of Marylou Arentz and Alice Silha and her family. He is also survived by four sisters, Phyllis Kobernick of La Crosse, Carol (Ed) Kobernick of Sparta, JoAnn (Bob) Stremcha of West Salem and Leona (Harvey) Heuer of Oregon, WI, two brothers, Kenneth of California and Curtis (Bernice) of La Crosse and all of their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dennis, Vernon and Jimmy, two sisters, Betty Brunn and Vonnie Schlaver and his former wife, Margaret Gullickson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at noon at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street. The Reverend Scott Skogen will officiate and burial with military rites will be in the Burns Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Mahlon Wayne Arentz Memorial Fund.
