Victor H. Eide, 81, of Onalaska went home to be with his Lord and Savior and to reunite with his beloved bride, Irene on Thursday, April 1, 2010.  Surrounded by his family, friend and pastor, he took his last breath here on earth and his next breath in the presence of his Lord.
Victor was born in La Crosse on November 29, 1928 to Earl and Gertrude (Druschke) Eide.  On June 15, 1951 he married Irene Wolfe and she preceded him in death on August 16, 2004.
Throughout his life Victor enjoyed fishing, boating, camping in their motorhome, painting outdoor crafts, and watching NASCAR. Also important to him was his church family and his involvement not only as an elder but in various other activities at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  Vic worked for Trane Co. for over 40 years both in LaCrosse and Clarksville, TN.
He leaves behind one son, Kenneth (Rita) Eide of Washington, IN; three daughters, Sharon (Dan) Mchugh of La Crosse, Nancy (Jim) Wescott of Kerrville, TX, and Cindy (Lee) Ford of Onalaska; eight grandchildren, Dean (Monica) McHugh, Vicki McHugh (John Sake), Terri (Steve) Olson, Kevin (Heather) Eide, Krista (Eric) Engholdt, Trixie (Adrian) Rickter, Nicole (Nathan) Keuper, and Nathan Ford; two step grandchildren, Tony and Kristin Wescott; seven-teen great grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Ford.
In addition to his wife Irene he was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Sam Erickson Ford; and a brother, Richard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1215 Redwood Street, Onalaska.  The Reverend Donald Stein will officiate and burial will be in Onalaska Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main Street, Onalaska on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation for Lung Cancer Research, 1900 South Avenue, La Crosse or to Shepherd of the Hills Church for a special memorial being set up in his honor.
