Obituary for Irene Anna Swett
Irene Anna (Novak) Swett, 91, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. She was born in Tabor, Minnesota to Edward C. and Marie (Rehurek) Novak on April 12, 1918. IN the Spring of 1923 the family moved to her grandparents farm at Montfort, Wisconsin. She graduated from Montfort High School and then went to Madison Academy of Beauty Culture in Madison, Wisconsin. On October 26, 1945 she was united in marriage to Levi W. Swett. She worked as a beautician until 1972 after which she assisted her husband in his real estate ventures. Levi passed away April 10, 1998.
Irene belonged to the St. Luke's Untied Methodist Church, Ruth Chapter #23 and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Kathryn Swett of La Crosse, step-son, Roger A. (Barbara) Swett of Osseo, WI, brother, Donald E. (Evelyn) Novak of Aurora, IL, seven step-grandchildren, Twelve step-great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1971, her mother in 1977, brother Harvey V. Novak in 2009 and his wife Grace in 2007. In addition she was preceded in death by her step-son, Kenneth L. Swett in 2006.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Dickinson Family Funeral Homes, 809 Gillette Street La Crosse. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials to ones choice are preferred.
